There’s no place better than here. Ranked fifth best destination in Lonely Planet 2015, Waiheke Island is a bubbling mixture of sandy beaches, sprawling vineyards, cultural spots, gourmet cuisine, and plain old relaxation.

Our new boutique bed and breakfast, Villa du Soleil, is nestled among lush trees, offering a private, intimate escape just half an hour via ferry from the heart of Auckland City.

  • John and Clare are the perfect hosts: communicative, caring, friendly, respectful, helpful and fun to be with! They go out of their way to ensure you have a great time. Even though I arrived at an entirely different end of the island, far away from the usual ferry pier, it was no question they pick me up. You are treated like family, while at the same time Clare and John have the perfect sense for keeping the balance between “adopting” you and keeping the required distance. Communication at all times was easy and quick. The place is lovely, exactly as shown in the pictures and decorated with a lot of taste and attention to detail. Everything is brand new and clean. I did not have a car during my stay and none was needed. The place is conveniently located in 5 minutes walking distance to the public bus as well as the hop on / hop off bus. Both are very easy to use and provide a great way to explore the island. The breakfast served every morning is delicious and you have a variety of items to choose from (taking any possible dietary requirements into account). All in all it was a great stay in a true home away from home! Thank you so much, John and Clare! 🙂

  • BEST AIRBNB WE’VE EVER STAYED IN. A cut above the rest this accommodation is faultless and the same can be said about John and Clare. Their attention to detail means you won’t go without a thing. The breakfast rivals top restaurants and the beds are super comfortable. The spa is to die for and the view from it too. Location is ideal, we drove and it took us 5 mins from ferry, although John kindly offered to collect us. A service which is fantastic if you don’t have a car. His knowledge of the island meant we saw, did and ate at all the best places. John really is a super host. THANKS A MILLION!!!!!

  • Perfect location for getting around the island. The weather wasn’t on our side but we still had an amazing 2 days. We went to some of the places that John and Clare advised and had a great time. To top off our stay, our hosts were just amazing. They made us feel very welcome upon arrival and we had everything we would ever need from the accommodation. The room is very clean, modern and comfortable with a cute little outside area for breakfast (scrambled eggs were yummy). John and Clare were happy to help with anything we needed and were always just a call or text away. We would definitely stay again if we came back to Waiheke.
